Watch Out ! Zombie Croc Is Coming And He’s Hungry !

Most horror fans love a cheesy “B” creature feature from time to time, and with zombies being so popular it was just a matter of time before someone went and combined the two sub-genres and added crocs. The star of this film is a giant undead crocodile. Director Robert Elkins’ new film is titled Zombie Croc: Evil Has Been Summoned. In the film a team of researchers and a hunter known as “Crocodile Jack”, venture into the swamp to battle a thirty-five foot-long resurrected croc that has been eating the locals. After entering the swamp the group discovers that a Voodoo priest has not only raised the hungry beast, but has been collecting human zombies. Bayview Entertainment will unleash Zombie Croc on the world on February 9, 2016.

A Whole New Thing: When a Remake Isn’t a Remake

It’s Not A Remake The Thing, 2011, is NOT a remake. It is a prequel. I just did more than the entire Universal Studios marketing department with that clarification. John Carpenter got royally screwed on his 1982 masterpiece. Some call The Thing his greatest film. Others, like me, call it one of the greatest films ever made for any genre. Carpenter’s film was buried in 1982 by a candy pilfering alien and Spielberg. Between a lackluster marketing campaign by Universal Studios and America’s pop sugar desire for heart glowing aliens, The Thing, 1982, never really had a chance. Carpenter himself saw the handwriting on the wall after exiting a plane to giant advertisements for ET: The Extraterrestrial. “We’re done,” he lamented. However home video and cable gave his film a new life, and eventually the tortoise caught up and passed the alien. Today, Carpenter’s film is regarded as timeless and as mentioned, by many, his best. The film is deserving

Movie Review: Stung (2015)

Mrs. Perch (Eve Slantner), a wealthy woman with a green thumb, has been putting her special illegally imported fertilizer on her precious plants. She has no idea that the special fertilizer has been seeping into the ground and that a swarm of killer wasps have made their hive right in the path of the chemicals. The new generation of wasps are mutating into seven foot monsters. During a party for Mrs. Perch’s elite group of friends, suddenly the giant wasps appear and they’re on the war path. It’s up to Paul (Matt O’Leary) and Julia (Jessica Cook), two of the catering staff, Mrs. Perch’s son, played by Clifton Collins Jr. (Pacific Rim) and a local politician (Lance Henriksen) to save themselves from the giant mutant wasps. I wasn’t sure just what to expect from this creature feature that was directed by Benni Diez and written by Adam Aresty. I was pleasantly surprised. ‘Stung’ has that distinct feel, reminiscent of those

‘Shark Lake’ Starring Dolph Lundgren

Action star Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables) is back in the action packed creature feature, ‘Shark Lake’. Lundgren stars along side Sara Malakul Lane of ‘Sharktopus’, Michael Aaron Milligan (V/H/S Viral) and James Chalke (Command Performance). Director Jerry Dugan brought this shark film to life. Meredith Hendricks, a fiercely protective single mom, happens to be the best cop in her small town on Lake Tahoe. Around the same time as Clint, a black-market exotic species dealer, is released from prison, a pregnant animal he let loose begins to let itself be known, but it’s not alone. Not only are there sharks in the lake, there’s sharks on land, of a different kind and they’re threatening Clint’s daughter. Both swimmers and pedestrians are soon part of Lake Tahoe’s new food chain. It’s up to Meredith, Peter and Clint to stop the beasts’ rampage. The only thing more frightening than a man-eating creature is a man-eating creature protecting it’s young. ‘Shark Lake’ bares

Cynema: Fright Night or…Why Remake When You Can Retitle?

A Valentine To Old School Horror Remaking a film falls under the old adage: “Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.” Netflix reviews or more accurately, article comments are dotted with such phrases like: “the film is old” or “it’s dated.” Better yet, “it’s foreign.” All three signify a concern in American pop culture: a fixation on the superficial and a refusal to give anything deemed “old” a chance, largely by a generation that prides itself on ignorance and is unappreciative for the previous work done by others that affords it the indifference it treats anything deemed unworthy of its attention. Horror is a breeding ground for remakes, but the focus of this article will be the 1985 horror hit “Fright Night.” The recent 3D remake of yet another 80’s horror film underscores not just the needless exercise in remaking films, but shows that audiences have become truly cynical in the product they pay for. There is

‘Hellyfish’ Becoming A Full Length Film

Directors Robert McLean and Patrick Longstreth are working on a full length version of the award-winning short film ‘Hellyfish’. The directors even used the short film to sell the horror-comedy that will give the SyFy Channel’s creature features a run for their money. The short film may only be thirteen minutes but it makes a big impact. I can’t wait to see the full length film, even though it may make me think twice about going to the beach.
