Blu-ray Review: Beyond Darkness (1990)

After a doozy of an opening sequence where a priest, Father George (David Brandon) hears a death row confession from a child murdering, bald headed follower of an evil deity known as Ameth as she’s led away to the electric chair followed by the ghosts of her victims, we get into the monstrous meat and putrid potatoes of Beyond Darkness. A priest, Peter (Gene LeBrock… the community theater Christopher Reeve with just a dash of Tom Cruise for funsies), and his family; wife Annie (Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan‘s Barbara Bingham), son Martin (that hospitality pissing mother fucker from Troll 2 himself, Michael Paul Stephenson), and their daughter Carole (Theresa Walker), a fart lovin’ girl that has a desire to dry her hair, but can’t remember the name of a hair dryer… you know what, Carole may have some sort of juvenile Alzheimer’s as she also can’t find her mouth in the dark… move into a house

Bruce Campbell Reveals New ‘Evil Dead Rise’ Plot Details

Earlier this month we reported that Evil Dead Rise had wrapped production. We now have an update courtesy of oh so groovy producer and franchise star Bruce Campbell. During a recent interview with a german horror site, Campbell revealed new plot details. It’s [about] a single mom who now has to deal with this book. These days it’s more about the book. That book gets around. Passed along, people try and get rid of it, they try to bury it or destroy it and they really can’t. So this book just keeps popping up, so really it’s just another story of what happens if this book appears in this particular group of people’s lives and how it intersects.” He continues, “this family is not the same at the end of the movie. They’re gutted. The whole family is destroyed. These people get possessed. Brothers and sisters, sons, daughters, you know. So yeah, it’s a family affair, this one’s a family

When it comes to classic horror, you don’t get much more iconic than writer-director Sam Raimi’s 1981 film The Evil Dead, which has spawned sequels, a reboot, a TV series, and a game franchise. This October the cherished film is returning to theaters to celebrate its 40th anniversary. In addition to the part horror, part comedy film’s theatrical return, attendees will be treated to an exclusive introduction from star Bruce Campbell, who portrayed the franchise’s iconic lead character, Ashley “Ash” Williams. In the first installment of Raimi’s famed original Evil Dead trilogy, Ash (Campbell), his girlfriend Linda (Baker), his sister Cheryl (Sandweiss), and couple Scotty (Delrich) and Shelly (York), drive to a remote cabin in the woods for a fun getaway. Sadly, Campbell’s iconic character Ash Williams will not be returning. This time Alyssa Sutherland (“Vikings”) and Lily Sullivan (Mental) will lead the cast of the sequel. Evil Dead Rise moves from the woods to the city, and centers on “two estranged sisters whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.” At its core, Evil Dead is about ordinary people overcoming extraordinarily terrifying situations. I can’t wait for Alyssa and Lily to fill the blood-soaked shoes of those who have come before them and carry on that tradition.” Campbell says. The

Part True Crime, Part Renovation Show, ‘Murder House Flip’ Is Streaming On Roku

There is a lot of true crime series out there, I mean a lot. There’s also a ton of renovation, flip and sale series. But only one show combines them both, “Murder House Flip.” I was browsing the Roku service and stumbled across this neat original series. In “Murder House Flip” co-hosts Joelle Uzyel and Mikel Welch take viewers inside homes where horrific murders have taken place and are now occupied by new residents. First, we get a tour and the cases are discussed. Then the family leaves for a few days while the house is remodeled and redecorated. The goal is to help the homeowner to see the place as their home, not a murder house, but let’s be honest, who could forget something like that? The first season includes the homes of seven killers. And sometimes, the show makes grizzly discoveries on camera, like in season one episode eight, while remodeling the bathroom of the what is the

To celebrate the eighth anniversary of 2013’s Evil Dead, Fede Alvarez has shared a bunch of never-before-seen behind-the-scenes images and a video and how a scene was made from the remake of Sam Raimi’s 1981 horror classic. He also promises to share something special on the 10th anniversary. Sam Raimi and star of the franchise, Bruce Campbell produced the film. Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas, and Elizabeth Blackmore star as a group of friends staying at an old cabin in the woods. As they explore the rustic building they discover the Book of the Dead. Of course, it wouldn’t be a horror movie unless they read it, when they do, they unleash a demon hellbent on claiming their souls. Take a look at the behind-the-scenes images shared via Alvarez’s Twitter account. Here's a few #EvilDead pics (I think…) were never released before… pic.twitter.com/lwGOWUQbX1 — Fede Alvarez (@fedalvar) April 6, 2021 Here’s a few #EvilDead pics (I
