Sink Your Fangs Into The First Trailer For Peacock’s “Vampire Academy”

It’s been nearly eight years since Richelle Mead’s “Vampire Academy” novels were made into a film, and now Peacock is adapting the books into a new series, and the first teaser trailer has debuted at SDCC. “In a world of privilege and glamour, two young women’s friendship transcends their strikingly different classes as they prepare to complete their education and enter vampire society. One as a powerful Royal, the other a half-vampire Guardian trained to protect against the savage ‘Strigoi’ who threaten to tear their society apart. That is if Royal infighting doesn’t do the job first.” The cast includes Daniela Nieves, Jennifer Kirby, Craig Stevenson, Louisa Connolly-Burnham, Nikol Kollars, Alex Hafner, Blake Anderson, and more. Julie Plec, who brought you “The Vampire Diaries,” “The Originals,” and “Legacies,” and Marguerite MacIntyre adapted the series, and serve as showrunners, writers, and executive producers. “Vampire Academy” premieres on Peacock on September 15, 2022.

Blu-ray Review: V/H/S/ 94 (2021)

For those unfamiliar with the V/H/S series , here’s the eerie elevator pitch: an anthology of period terror tales is presented in the found footage format, more specifically via VHS tapes. I can safely say that V/H/S 94 sticks to that formula (which doubtless comes a shock to some of you lascivious lot). Moving on, V/H/S 94 begins with a woman in a strange compound huffing fumes from some sort of demonic jizz or another, before she begins a countdown with her eyes gouged out. Meanwhile, a SWAT team raids said compound finding all manner of ghoulish goings-on before a news broadcast begins… Written and directed by Jennifer Reeder, this is a nice, tension filled way to kick out the jams and get this fright flick rocking n’ rolling (as are the segments of the tale that appear between each story proper)! The above leads into Chloe Okuno’s Storm Drain, which tales the tale of Channel 6 news reporter Holly

Mahershala Ali Sinks His Teeth Into The New ‘Blade’ Movie

Following a flood of entertainment news from SDCC, news came that two-time Oscar winner and “True Detective” star Mahershala Ali is gearing up to hunt down vampires in Marvel’s new Blade movie! During the Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con last night Ali appeared and revealed the news that he is will be starring as the badass day-walker Blade, the character made iconic by Wesley Snipes. There are no other details available yet, but we assume that the movie will be out in late 2020 or early 2021. We’ll keep you posted. Personally, I think it’s a good fit, especially if Ali beefs up. He’s an incredible actor (he’s got two Oscars for God’s sake). He was fantastic in “True Detective” and in “Luke Cage”, in which he plays the villain Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes. If you haven’t seen either series, I strongly recommend that you do so. You will find “True Detective” on Prime and “Luke Cage” on Netflix.

Jangly Man Stalks The New ‘Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark’ Poster

Out of SDCC comes the new Jangly Man poster for Scary Stories To Tell In the Dark, revealing a twisted, deformed creature coming down the stairs. Director André Øvredal takes us on a terrifying journey back into our childhood with the new trailer for his and Acadamy Award-winner Guillermo del Toro’s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, inspired by Alvin Schwartz’s book series of the same name. Set in 1968 in America, change is blowing in the wind…but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time—stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s

Blu-ray Review: Krypton: The Complete First Season (2018)

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this blog post. The opinions I share are my own. Hearing that a Krypton based TV joint was being produced that wouldn’t focus on ol’ Superman made me as nervous as a cat nervous about shit that makes cats nervous (Disclaimer: I’m not a cat). Let’s see if that case of jitters was justified… Krypton concerns the adventures of Supes’ grand-pappy Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe) who resides in the Kryptonian city of Kandor 200 years before the planet is fated to explode…and let me tell ya; Seg’s having a time of it. The House of El is on the shit list after Seg’s grandfather got the ax for suggesting that their is life on planets other than Krypton, and our homeboy is caught up in the plottings of shifty chief magistrate, Daron-Vex (Elliot Cowan), who’s daughter Nyssa Vex (Wallis Day) Seg is set to marry

Was The Set Of ‘The Nun’ Haunted?

At this past weekend’s SDCC new footage from Corin Hardy‘s upcoming Conjuring spin-off, The Nun was shown, unfortunately, it hasn’t made its way on to the internet yet. But that’s not all, during The Nun panel, Hardy recounted a creepy story about a Romain Castle and some paranormal activity experienced during filming. He went into more details during a conversation with Cinema Blend. Was the set of The Nun haunted? Hardy seems to think so. According to the filmmaker… We were shooting in a real Romanian fortress… it was used to store weapons… like an old bunker,” Hardy told Cinema Blend. “Everyone was a bit unnerved by it. Pitch dark tunnels you could get lost in. So when we shot this sequence… it was called the corridor of crosses, and it was a two hundred foot long corridor… deep, dark, dank. Where I was situated, I had to be out of camera shot, so I was in one of these

People Struggle To Stay Civil In The Season 9 Trailer For “The Walking Dead”

With only months left to go, the season 9 trailer for “The Walking Dead” has arrived, revealing both harmony and inner turmoil amongst groups. This season Rick and Maggie and hers will find themselves at odds as do some of the groups that have come together. Rick’s choice to save Negan has put a real strain on the relationship between him and Maggie and the Hilltop and Alexandria. This season we will also see multiple new locations, including a forest location and the city which was revealed in the new poster. It’s time we got to see something new. We already know that we will be saying goodbye to at least two main characters, including Andrew Lincoln who confirmed today at SDCC that he is indeed leaving the show. The big question is can “TWD” keep their fans interested this season? Can it withstand saying goodbye to multiple main characters? That won’t be the only people we will say goodbye

If you are like me, you studied the pages of Film Threat magazine in the ’90’s, dreaming of all of the exciting new indy projects that most likely would not be coming to a theater near me. Their first release will be F’ed up sci-fi drug yarn The Theta Girl!
