Movie Review: Veronica is a Fun Supernatural Yarn

Veronica has got it rough all over; since her father died her mother has to work mega long hours leaving V-dawg in charge of her young siblings…when she isn’t attending classes at the local Catholic school that is. Speaking of that school, Veronica and two of her friends get the absolutely dip-shit idea to head down into the building’s basement during a solar eclipse to use a Ouija board to contact their dead loved ones. This goes about as well as one would expected and Veronica suffers some sort of physical episode. This leads to an outre presence making itself known at her home that threatens to destroy Veronica and her entire family. Will our young heroine be able to force those ghost back into whatever nether hell they emerged from, or will she lose herself to the darkness? Veronica is an interesting film for a number of reasons, and this may come a surprise given how familiar the story

Death Is Permanent In ‘Song Of Horror’

When you die in a video game, usually you restart from a checkpoint or where you last saved, but many gamers like a challenge, now comes the gaming term that either excites or terrifies players, “permadeath”. Permadeath is a gaming slang term for “permanent death” means exactly as it sounds, when you die in a game that’s it, game over, you must now start from scratch. Most games either don’t have this mechanic as it’s more or less a personal challenge made by the player themselves or in some games like Wolfenstein: New Colossus it’s a difficulty that you can unlock, but for upcoming survival horror game Song of Horror by Protocol Games it’s the game’s main feature. To ease your concerns about the permadeath mechanic in Song of Horror, it’s only permanent for one of 16 playable characters, that’s right, you can control 16 different characters! The game’s protagonist, Daniel Noyer, is at the center of the game’s story

The Real Winchester House

If you’ve seen the trailer for the upcoming film Winchester you’re probably one of two people, you’re familiar with the Winchester House or you’re not. If you’re the latter, I got you covered, here we go. Yes, the Winchester House is a real location where you can visit but before we do let’s go back to its origins. In 1866 Oliver Winchester made his mark in the world by manufacturing the model 1866 repeating rifle that we always see in old western movies and TV shows. With the popularity of Winchester’s repeating rifles that were being used by both civilians and the military, Oliver was the 19th century’s version of Tony Stark, made his fortune by designing, manufacturing, and selling rifles to anyone who would pay. The Winchester Repeating Arms Company eventually was headed by Oliver’s only son William after his death in December of 1880. Calamity soon struck the family again when three months later, William died from Tuberculosis

There’s A ‘Harry Potter’ Easter Egg In ‘Dying Light: The Following’… And It’s Spooky!

I’ve been playing Dying Light for a while now as well as its DLC The Following. Amazing game, but eventually I got a little bored and wanted to find a way to make it interesting, so I was looking around the internet to find information on some Easter Eggs. One that jumped out to me was a Harry Potter Easter Egg in Dying Light: The Following where they say that under the stairs of this creepy abandoned house is the famed Boy Wizard’s bedroom while he lived with his Muggle relatives. I found a picture showing where the house in question was located in which I hopped into my buggy and drove to the location, running over zombies that got in the way. After arriving at the abandoned hovel I walked inside and true enough, compared to other houses you can enter, it was abandoned and spooky. Note Spoilers ahead after the picture of the map! Once I explored the

Many Gamers love a good horror game, especially when they deal with the supernatural in ways we’re not culturally familiar with. There’s Nowhere To Hide At Busch Gardens Tampa’s Howl-O-Scream

Last Friday marked the opening night for Busch Gardens Tampa’s Howl-O-Scream event. The annual Halloween event is scheduled to run on select nights from September 22 to October 29. I had the distinct pleasure of being invited to the event’s media night last Thursday for a sneak preview of one of the new haunted houses available this year. You can see a video of my complete walk-through of the house at the end of this article, as well as a short interview with one of the event’s creative managers. But before you jump straight to the video, I thought I’d give you an overview of the different houses and various other elements that make up the event. The theme for this year’s event is “Nowhere To Hide,” and that becomes pretty obvious as even the tram ride from the parking lot to the front gate is full of ghouls and various other unsavory characters. But come on, you’re not going
