Movie Review: ‘Two Heads Creek’ Is Horror Comedy Done Right

When I sat down to watch writer-director Jesse O’Brien’s Two Heads Creek I didn’t know what to really expect. The sad truth is that horror-comedies rarely live up to expectations or their PR campaigns. However, Two Heads Creek is a rare exception. The UK/Aussie film is about a brother and sister who discover that they were adopted after their mother’s death. It was no surprise that they set out to find the mother who gave them up. What they don’t know is how just how twisted their family really is. Two Heads Creek is a mix of blood-drenched action and dark humor. It’s wickedly funny and delightfully demented. This fun flick is a bit campy from beginning to end but in the best possible way! Looking for blood and gore? Two Heads Creek has it, my god does it ever! Movie Review: Aquaslash (2019)

Man, the student body of Valley Hill High have it made, what with throwin’ a bash at Wet Valley, a nearby water park. Sure the park is way past it’s prime; but it still manages to serve as a spot where water slides and coke (snorted off a girl’s rockin’ rack no less) can be enjoyed in equal measure! Of course there’s a bit more to the plot including a love triangle involvin’ Tommy (Paul Zinno), Kim (Lanisa Dawn) and Josh (Nicolas Fontaine)… who’s pappy just so happens to be gettin’ horizontal with the wife of the owner of Wet Valley. Angela Bettis & David Arquette Star In The Horror Comedy ’12 Hour Shift’

Angela Bettis (Carrie, The Woman) makes her return to the genre in writer-director Brea Grant‘s (After Midnight) 12 Hour Shift. Ahead of Cannes comes the news that Magnet Releasing has snagged the worldwide rights to the horror-comedy about a group of nurses who are stealing organs to sell on the black market. The first trailer features footage of a blood-drenched Bettis as well as David Arquette (Scream) brandishing a rather large knife. “Nurse Mandy is just trying to make it through her double shift alive, but her nasty drug addiction, annoying coworkers, needy patients, and devious cousin are making it pretty tough, not to mention organ-stealing criminals and an injured convict.” Mick Foley, Chloe Farnworth, Kit Williamson, Tara Perry, and Nikea Gamby-Turner also star. Movie Review: Race To See ‘Driven’ Starring “Supernatural’s” Richard Speight Jr.

“Supernatural” actor-director Richard Speight Jr. and Casey Dillard star in the supernatural film Driven, which follows a man on a mission to take down the dark entities released by his family’s curse. When a cab driver (Dillard) picks him she has no clue that her passenger, Roger (Speight Jr.), is about to introduce her to a world she had no idea exists. Driven, directed by Glenn Payne and written by Dillard, sits on the border between a horror film and horror-comedy. While filled with horror elements the interaction between the two characters gets downright funny at times. Speight Jr. and Dillard work so well together. There’s a contrast between the two characters with Dillard’s being a bit quirky and Speight Jr.’s being intense makes the two a match made in heaven. Steelbook Review: One Cut Of The Dead Is One ZomCom You Need To Sink Your Teeth Into

Following its hit festival run, an accidental bootleg release on Amazon, a stint on Shudder, and its DVD release from RLJE, One Cut of the Dead has just gotten a Steelbook release. I happened to get my hands on one and I’m ready to hand down my verdict in this review. The film follows a cast and crew filming a tv episode that sets out to capture the story in one single take. As if that wouldn’t be hard enough on its own, the crew and cast encounter real zombies and have to fight to survive. Written and directed by Shin’ichirô Ueda (Special Actors), the zomcom stars Harumi Shuhama (Ichigo no uta), Takayuki Hamatsu (“Followers”), and Yuzuki Akiyama (“Kamen raidâ Jiô”) and is based on the play, “Ghost in the Box!” written by Ryoichi Wada. After a fantastic opening that is the unholy blend of Lichtenstein by way of E.C. Comics we get down to brass tacks with Vampire Dad… Psychologist Dr. Raymond Walenski (Jackson Hurst) is the ultimate early ’60’s father figure; a great husband and father with an ideal suburban lifestyle… but that goes to shit right quick when he’s turned into a bloodsuckin’ fang-banger thanks to the beastly bite of Victoria, the Goddess of the Underworld (Sarah Palmer)! Now that he’s a full-fledged creature of the night, Doc Walenski is offered the position of therapist to the monsters of the world by vicious Victoria; and soon he’s balls deep in the neurotic n’ demonic denizens of the midnight hour… a fact that Walenski’s wife tries to keep from family and neighbor’s alike! Before the five minute mark of Elvira: Mistress of the Dark; the titular character (portrayed by Cassandra Peterson) is groped by her new boss… and then she proceeds to quit her shitty job, and push that grabby bastard right through a desk. This is because Elvira kicks major ass… and guess what, so does this film!
