Blu-ray Review: Lords of Chaos (2018)

Ol’ Øystein “Euronymous “Aarseth (Rory Culkin) lives a rather bland existence in late ’80’s Norway doing the typical teen biz; drinking, smoking, starting Mayhem…a legendary Satanic Black Metal band…the usual. The days are filled with fun, gifts of crucified mice from fanatical fans, and endless practice sessions. Enter: new vocalist Pelle ‘Dead’ Ohlin (Jack Kilmer)…a real ray of sunshine that brings with him a heavy cloud of darkness and depression…and a real move forward for the band musically and visually. Of course tragedy soon follows and things begin to really go off the rails once the eager-to-please Kristian ‘Varg’ Vikernes (Emory Cohen) makes the scene along with some radical ideas (read: fucked-up) that soon have him and Euronymous at odds and things falling desperately out of control (to put it mildly). First things first; does Lords of Chaos fuck with the facts surrounding Mayhem? Sure it does…but this is a movie version of reality, not a documentary…and what a movie

Movie Review: Rondo (2018)

Rondo begins with Paul (Luke Sorge), a PTSD suffering ex-combat vet and alcoholic, getting chastised by his sister cum caretaker Jill (Brenna Otts) who ends up sending him to a therapist (Gena Shaw) who unbelievably recommends that he keeps drinking, and prescribes him a rather unorthodox treatment; namely attending a very bizarre sex party with very specific rules…and an end result for each participant that isn’t quite what one would expect. Paul naturallt decides to exit stage left from the whole affair which results in a different kind of orgy…one of violence that at the film’s half way point changes the paradigm of the story completely…and not in a way you would ever guess! As you can surmise, Rondo is a film packed with twists and surprises, and while that results in an edge-of-you-seat, unpredictable thrill ride for the viewer it makes my job excruciatingly difficult because I can’t discuss the reasons why this film is so amazing without giving

Hans Asperger: Autism’s Dr. Jekyll And Nazi Mr. Hyde

WARNING: The following information and images may be disturbing to some In a shocking twist that would be something out of a Hitchcock film, Hans Asperger, the Austrian Pediatrician, Medical Theorist, and a professor was on the wrong side of history, make that, the darkest wrong side of history. Though Asperger is known and celebrated for his research in childhood autism and discovering the higher functioning spectrum of it which was named after him (Asperger Syndrome), he was involved in a dark chapter in history many are not aware of, Action T4. On April 19, 2018, Molecular Autism published their findings after eight years of peer review concluding that Asperger, who has said in the past that he defended his patients against the Nazis, in fact, partook in Action T4 (Aktion T4) the systematically forced euthanasia of mentally handicapped children. Asperger himself did not actively murder any of his patients but referred them to one of eight euthanasia sites, Am

Katherine Knight: Australia’s First Life-Imprisoned Woman

Mother…Wife…Neighbor…Murderer…Butcher…Frying pan enthusiast…possible cannibal…All of these things apply to the first woman in Australia ever to be sentenced to life without parole, Katherine Knight. Katherine was born in 1955 as the result of an affair between her mother and her married father. She witnessed rape and abuse all throughout her growing up years and it certainly left a mark on her psyche (her father allegedly attempted to rape her mother multiple times each day). She and her siblings were moved around to different family members to be raised, but nothing ever really stuck. Katherine was violent, cruel, and ruthless. The only person in the town of Aberdeen that Katherine found any comfort in was her uncle Oscar who tragically committed suicide in 1969. Katherine, in her mind, was left alone although she still maintains that she is visited by his ghost. In 1973, after growing up in these horrific conditions, Katherine eventually met and married her co-worker David Kellett. Kellett

Suicidal Social Media Users Stalked By Murderers

On Wednesday (Japan time), 28-year-old newspaper delivery man Kazunari Saito was arrested in Tokyo for the attempted murder of a suicidal teenage girl who he met online. According to Japan Times, Saito saw the girl’s tweet on Twitter expressing suicidal tendencies that prompted him to contact the girl and lure her to his residence with the promise he would end her life. After the girl arrived Tuesday, Saito strangled her with a string and left her for dead. The girl survived the attempt and escaped from Saito’s home and made contact with her father resulting in police arresting Saito who admitted to authorities that the girl “Wanted it.” This incident follows very closely on the heels of a familiar case that shook the nation back in October. On Halloween police in Zama, Kanagawa Prefecture were looking for a missing 23-year-old woman and ended up at an apartment owned by 27-year-old former supermarket worker Takahiro Shiraishi following events that came right

Evelyn Dick: The Torso Murders

I recently moved from Canada and so, to celebrate that life change, I thought that I would do a quick article about one of the most notorious crimes and trials in Canadian history. You cut off his legs… You cut off his arms… You cut off his head… How could you Mrs Dick? How could you Mrs Dick? This once-popular nursery rhyme discusses the murderess Evelyn Dick (born October 13, 1920) in Beamsville Ontario. She was found guilty for the press-titled Torso Murders. In 1946, a group of children playing found a human torso…just the torso. It was finally determined that he torso belonged to Evelyn’s (late) husband, Donald. It was discovered that his arms, legs, and head had been disposed of in the furnace of his own home. His wife, Evelyn, who was well known for her beauty, was quickly arrested, found guilty of the murder, and sentenced to hang. However, she was acquitted and remained free until the

‘Butcher Of Bosnia’ Ratko Mladic Found Guilty

NPR has reported that former Bosnian Serb General Ratko Mladic (74) was found guilty by The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and was sentenced to life for orchestrating the mass murder of Ethnic Muslims during the Bosnian Civil War, most notably the mass murder of 8000 Muslim men and boys in Srebrenica. Mladic’s reign of terror during the Bosnian War started in May of ’92 and ended in November of ’95 when the war ended. Mladic is the last of 161 individuals who were arrested and tried for atrocities committed during the conflict. Mladic was one of three big-name players to be tried. Last year Radovan Karadzic, former Bosnian Serb leader, was convicted for his role in the atrocities during the war, he was sentenced to 40 years. Former Serbian leader Slobodon Milosevic AKA the ‘Butcher of the Balkans’, died in 2006 while still on trial. Mladic’s attorneys have stated that Mladic will seek an appeal from

Aaron Hernandez – Murderer and NFL All Star Commits Suicide

I do a lot of articles on murderers and crimes, but usually they are of historic persons and people whose stories have been told over and over again to people who follow this sort of thing. I have the sad opportunity today to cover something very recent and ongoing. In the fourth round of the 2010 NFL draft, the New England Patriots drafted an NCAA National Champion All-American, John Mackey Award winning (an award given to the nation’s top college tight end) blue chip prospect named Aaron Josef Hernandez. This draft pick was highly scouted and a great pick. He didn’t get drafted earlier because of continually failing drug tests and violence problems while attending The University of Florida. With these issues in mind, Hernandez signed a very lucrative 4-year contract filled with financial incentives to “walk the straight and narrow line.” His promising player was the youngest player on any active roster to start the 2010 season, and showed

Sadistic Soccer Sociopath Signs Contract

I am a huge sports fan. Obviously (adhering to the overwhelming Canadian stereotype) I love to watch and play hockey. Football, softball, basketball, MMA, and various other sports are always on my radar. One sport I just can’t get into is soccer (or futball for all you purists out there). But something has happened in the wide world of sports that has made it impossible to ignore this boring spectacle. If you like soccer more power to you, I wish I did, and I wish you all the best…unless you are cheering for the Boa Esporte Clube in Brazil. This team just signed a new goalie named Bruno Fernandes das Dores de Souza. I don’t know if that name is familiar to anyone, but he was in the news back in 2010 for murdering and torturing his girlfriend to keep her pregnancy from his wife. Oh, he also fed her body to his dogs. So here’s the story, His mistress,

Remember Faces Of Death ? Was It Even Real ?

Most every person born in the 70’s and 80’s will remember seeing at least one of the ‘Faces of Death’ films. It was kind of a rite of passage. In 1983, Gordon Video released the film with the banner, “Banned! In 46 Countries!” with promises of torture, executions, murders and freak accidents. It became an underground hit, pulling in over $35 million and spawning several sequels. First released back in 1978, ‘Faces of Death’ “supposedly” contained scenes of real people’s deaths caught on film and hosted by Dr. Francis B. Gross, a pathologist. But were the gruesome deaths actually real? For the 30th anniversary of ‘Faces of Death’, Gorgon released a documentary titled ‘The Death Makers’ that revealed many of the secrets behind the videos, including that most of the scenes were completely fake. The monkey meal never happened. The prop monkey’s head was filled with cauliflower and sauce. The dog fight, fake. The Canines were in reality covered in
