Christina Ricci Returns To The Genre With The Supernatural Thriller ‘Monstrous’

Christina Ricci (Sleepy Hollow, The Addams Family, “Z”) is starring in the new supernatural thriller Monstrous, directed by Chris Sivertson (All Cheerleaders Must Die, The Lost) and written by Carol Chrest. The news was announced today by Screen Media, a Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment company, in association with Clay Epstein’s Film Mode Entertainment. Monstrous, which co-stars Colleen Camp (Spenser Confidential), centers on a traumatized woman fleeing from her abusive ex-husband with her 7-year-old son. In their new, remote sanctuary they find they have a bigger, more terrifying monster to deal with. Principal Photography began in early December in Los Angeles, CA throughout Simi Valley, Sherman Oaks, and Altadena. This March Amy Carlson (“Blue Bloods”), Mallory Bechtel (Hereditary), and David Alan Basche (War of the Worlds) face a demon in the supernatural indie horror film Know Fear. “After discovering an ancient book of the occult in their new home, Donald Capel’s (David Alan Basche) wife Wendy (Amy Carlson) is seized by a demonic entity, nearly killing her. Neill Blomkamp Secretly Made A Supernatural Horror Film Titled ‘Demonic’

Neill Blomkamp, the filmmaker behind District 9, Chappie, and Elysium secretly filmed, Demonic, a supernatural horror film last summer in British Columbia. Now, it’s heading to the upcoming European Film Market to hopefully find distribution. ScreenDaily quotes AGC head, Stuart Ford, as saying “Typically for Neill’s films it has a highly original visual component as well as some great scares.” The film, whose cast and details are still being kept hush, hush is being described as having “a strong sci-fi and VFX component,” and is the movie the director has always wanted to make. J.J. Abrams Is Rebooting ‘Constantine’ For HBO Max

J.J. Abrams (“Lovecraft Country”, Overlord) and his banner Bad Robot are currently working on bringing fans a new, darker series reboot of DC Comic’s Constantine for HBO Max with Guy Bolton (The Pictures) writing the script and leading the writer’s room that is set to begin working this March, Deadline reports. There will be a few changes to the character that was played by Keanu Reeves in the 2005 film or Matt Ryan who starred in the 2014-2015 series based on the comic book character John Constantine, a British exorcist, and occult detective. This time the character will be much younger and is set to be cast as a diverse lead. At this time no cast has been announced. Constantine is a popular character these days, a sequel to the movie has been confirmed by actor Peter Stormare who played the role of Lucifer in the original. Creator Of ‘The Grudge’ Is Taking Us Into The Suicide Forest In New Movie

Following last year’s release of Howling Village, Takashi Shimizu, creator of both The Grudge franchise and Ju-on, is back with a new Japanese horror film that takes us to Aokigahara, in Suicide Forest Village.
