Damon Thomas, the director behind the series “Killing Eve” and “Penny Dreadful” is set to bring us the new Amazon movie My Best Friend’s Exorcism, an adaptation of Grady Hendrix’s hit novel.
THR reports that My Bestfriend’s Exorcism, which began production this week, is “set in 1988, the novel centered on the relationship between Abby and Gretchen, two best friends and sophomores in high school. Their friendship is tested when an evening of skinny-dipping goes wrong, and Gretchen begins to act differently and followed by bizarre occurrences. After some investigating, Abby begins to horrifyingly suspect that her friend may be possessed by a demon force.”

Elsie Fisher (Eighth Grade) leads the cast that also includes Amiah Miller, Cathy Ang, and Rachel Ogechi Kanu. Jenna Lamia (NBC’s “Good Girls”) wrote the screenplay and will serve as associate producer. The Gotham Group, Quirk Productions are producing along with Christopher Landon, the writer-director of hit horror movies such as Freaky and Happy Death Day. My Best Friend’s Exorcism is an Endeavor Content film.
