New Director Sinks His Fangs Into Marvel's 'Blade'

Here’s What’s Going On With Marvel’s ‘Blade’

After all the years of rumors and issues, you may be wondering where the upcoming Blade reboot stands. Wonder no more, we’ve got an update. We last heard the voice of Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali as Blade in the post-credit scene of 2021’s Eternals (see the clip below) when Dane (Kit Harington)/ the Black Knight reaches for a sword wrapped in cloth in a wooden box. Before he can touch it we hear the voice asking “Are you sure you are ready for that Mr. Whitman?” Since then writers and directors have changed several times. No worries though, it seems that Marvel has brought Yann Demange (“Lovecraft Country”) on board to direct the movie written by Emmy-winner Michael Starbury. However, the plot is being kept quiet at the moment. It also appears Blade will be “R-Rated” and will have a “dark and gritty tone,” according to Cinemablend. There’s more good news, Marvel has set a release date, but delaying the movie

Film Reviews: CRYPTID, THE CURSE, and MOJICA’S LAST CURSE (Another Hole in the Head Film Festival)

Cryptid Writer/director Brad Rego’s Cryptid is a nifty creature feature that serves up The X-Files vibes with a dash of Kolchak: The Night Stalker for good measure. Former big-city journalist Max (Nicholas Baroudi) is working as a freelance reporter for a small-town newspaper in Maine, relegated to high-school sports items while hoping for a story that he hopes will give him a break back to the big time. He may have stumbled on a potential item when he comes across an animal attack victim that Sheriff Murdoch (Chopper Bernet) has bad feelings about. Max gets his photojournalist coworker and buddy Harriet (Ellen Adair) involved, and soon enough the pair are on the trail of the titular beast. Rego has crafted a fun monster movie that follows and respects the rules of classic creature features and sports an impressive monster-suit design and great-looking practical effects and makeup. The chemistry between Baroudi and Adair is super, with their characters having a “Will
