Chucky’s Back And Ready To “Play” In New Series Trailer

Our favorite possessed doll is back and ready to play in the new trailer for the upcoming ten-episode series “Chucky,” from franchise creator Don Mancini. In the new television series, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos after a vintage ‘Good Guy’ doll turns up at a suburban yard sale. Soon, everyone must grapple with a series of horrifying murders that begin to expose the town’s deep hypocrisies and hidden secrets. Meanwhile, friends and foes from Chucky’s past creep back into his world and threaten to expose the truth behind his mysterious origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster. Brad Dourif, who has long voiced Chucky, returns along with franchise stars Jennifer Tilly who is back as Tiffany, Fiona Dourif as Nica Pierce, Alex Vincent as Andy Barclay, and Christine Elise as Kyle. Devon Sawa (Final Destination, Hunter Hunter), “Arrow” actress Lexa Doig, Teo Briones (“Ratched”), Bjorgvin Arnarson (“PEN15”), and Alyvia Alyn Lind (“The

Movie Reviews (Toronto International Film Festival): You Are Not My Mother and A Banquet

Beginning with one of the most harrowing scenes in recent memory, writer/director Kate Dolan’s Halloween-set Irish horror outing You Are Not My Mother serves up traditional European folklore in a modern urban setting. The result is one of the most thrilling, eerie cinematic experiences of this year. High-school student Char (Hazel Doupe) reluctantly accepts a ride to school from her seemingly depressed mother Angela (Carolyn Bracken), who almost drives the car straight into a horse. Angela disappears later that day but returns in a few days; however, she now seems to be in lighter moods, more active, and more engaged regarding spending time with Char. At first the bullied teen seems cautiously optimistic about her mother’s new behavior, but soon Angela begins displaying increasingly disturbing bearings. Char’s grandmother Rita (Ingrid Craigie), who makes talismans for protection, warns Char about a supernatural presence behind Angela, but Char wants none of that because she has heard schoolmates and neighbors mock her family

Movie Reviews (Toronto International Film Festival): Kicking Blood and Mlungu Wam (Good Madam)

Director Blaine Thurier’s Kicking Blood is a stylish vampire film that, like The Addiction (1995) and other entries in the genre, deals with these undead creatures’ thirst for blood as a chemical dependency. Anna (Alana Bale) is one such bloodsucker, and when she invites alcoholic and suddenly homeless Robbie (Luke Bilyk) to her place and tells him “I’m going to suck your blood and get high . . .”, he invites her to do that but after one last request. He then pours a bottle of booze down the sink and proclaims that he will never drink again as long as he lives. Intrigued by his oath, Anna refrains from biting him, and as she goes on to admire his determination to stick to his promise when giving in to his cravings would be so easy, she begins to rethink her lifestyle. Her vampire partners with whom she hunts, Nina (Ella Jonas Farlinger) and Boris (Benjamin Sutherland), are none too

AMC Networks’ premium streaming bundle AMC+ and RLJE Films, a business unit of AMC Networks, announced today the acquisition of and a day-and-date release for the darkly comedic drama Silent Night ahead of the film’s world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Writer Camille Griffin makes her directorial debut with Silent Night, set to be released in theaters and stream exclusively on AMC+ in North America this December. Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode, Roman Griffin Davis, Annabelle Wallis, Lily-Rose Depp, Ṣọpé Dìrísù, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Lucy Punch, Rufus Jones, and Trudie Styler star. From producers Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman franchise), Trudie Styler (Moon), and Celine Rattray (The Kids Are Alright), Silent Night follows a group of old friends who – in true British fashion and while the rest of the world faces impending doom – reunite to celebrate Christmas in the comfort of an idyllic country home. Burdened with the inconvenience of mankind’s imminent destruction, they adopt a stiff upper lip, crack

Toronto International Film Festival 2021: Our Half-Dozen “Have to See!” Horror Films

Shocks and shudders abound during Toronto International Film Festival’s (TIFF) hybrid event September 9–18, 2021, with in-person cinema screenings in Toronto and digital screenings available to viewers across Canada. Among the incredible international line-up of horror, science fiction, thriller, and other genre-cinema styles are the following six stand-outs, which Horror Fuel highly recommends. My comments follow in italics after descriptions adapted from TIFF’s official program and website. Kicking Blood “Blaine Thurier’s sultry, perma-stoned, ultra-modern spin on the vampire genre evokes cult-horror figures like George A. Romero and Stuart Gordon.” Fusing the grittiness of George Romero’s Martin with the sly theatricality of Stuart Gordon’s early films (Re-Animator, From Beyond), Blaine Thurier’s Kicking Blood reimagines vampire mythology by transplanting it to the bohemian world Thurier has satirized since he began making films. Instead of the usual desiccated, tormented aristocrats with impossibly innocent victims, Thurier’s undead are hipster scavengers and swingers, their victims luckless hangers-on and drunks. Vampire Anna (Alanna Bale) is disappointed

“Certified Fresh” Revenge Horror ‘Violation’ Arrives On Blu-ray Next Month

Following its international premiere at Sundance’s 2021 film festival and screening at SXSW, and TIFF, Madeleine Sims-Fewer and Dusty Mancinelli’s chilling debut feature Violation is coming to Bly-ray and Digital HD. In the film that is as beautiful as it is brutal, “With her marriage about to implode, Miriam returns to her hometown to seek solace in the comfort of her younger sister and brother-in-law. But one evening a tiny slip in judgment leads to a catastrophic betrayal, leaving Miriam shocked, reeling, and furious. Believing her only recourse is to exact revenge, Miriam takes extreme action, but the price of retribution is high, and she is not prepared for the toll it takes as she begins to emotionally and psychologically unravel.” Written, produced, directed by, and starring Madeleine Sims-Fewer and Dusty Mancinelli, Violation, a “certified fresh” film, is a turbulent feminist revenge fable that explores the idea of trauma within families and untangles a web of resentment. Two Huge Stars Joining The Cast Of ‘The Haunted Mansion’

Disney is taking us to the Haunted Mansion with a new film based on the iconic ride. Today, we’ve got some casting news to share with you. Comedian Tiffany Haddish (Night School, Girls Trip, Like A Boss) and Oscar nominee LaKeith Stanfield (Get Out, Knives Out, Sorry To Bother You) are currently in talks to star in the movie, THR reports. “Stanfield would play a widower who once believed in the supernatural but is now a rather lifeless tour guide in New Orleans’ French Quarter,” and “Haddish would play a psychic hired to commune with the dead.” Which we assume is the role of the iconic Madame Leota, the headless psychic in the crystal ball, played by Jennifer Tilly in the 2003 adaptation. The movie, which has nothing to do with the 2003 movie starring Eddie Murphy, sounds a lot like a prequel to the ride, an origin story if you will. But we’ll have to wait for the synopsis
