Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the North Atlantic, Netflix is gearing up to unleash a spine-tingling new creature-thriller that proves the ocean holds way more than just cod and lobster. The streaming giant has dropped the first teaser trailer for “Below.” It’s a six-episode coastal nightmare starring Josh Hartnett (Penny Dreadful, Trap, Oppenheimer). Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things) and Mackenzie Davis (Station Eleven) also star. Before dropping anchor on Netflix this October, the series will make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 10. A Small Town with Big Aquatic Problems Filmed on location in St. John’s, Newfoundland, the series drops audiences into a tight-knit seaside village where the local wildlife has suddenly developed a taste for terror. Exploitation Horror 'Southern Nightmare' Unleashes New Blood-Drenched Trailer

Exploitation Horror ‘Southern Nightmare’ Unleashes New Blood-Drenched Trailer

If you’ve exhausted your watchlist looking for a new, dirt-under-the-fingernails exploitation flick, look no further. Black Mandala is officially unleashing Southern Nightmare. It’s the latest slice of cinematic madness from director Charlie Steeds. This flick isn’t just a nod to the 1970s grindhouse era—it’s an unfiltered, unapologetic love letter to it. By tossing backwoods horror, brutality, and pure blaxploitation attitude into a cinematic blender, Southern Nightmare serves up a raw, relentless, and delightfully sleazy genre cocktail that refuses to play by anyone’s rules. However, it may be too much for some viewers to handle. The killer cast includes Faith McCoy (Collection), Scot Scurlock (Homestead), and Gloria Lynne Henry (Phantasm III, The Devil’s Advocate)—Madison Pankey, Adam Bash, and Travis Cutner round out the cast. Charlie Steeds wrote, directed, and served as cinematographer. Faith McCoy and Charlie Steeds produced. A Quick Trip to Hell The setup is a classic recipe for disaster. Sherri and Anna Beth are two best friends embarking on

Spoiler-Free Reviews: AnyMart and A Weapon in My Heart (Jeonju International Film Festival 2026)

AnyMart (Japan, 2026) Official Synopsis Sakai, the protagonist, works as an assistant manager at a local convenience store. Outside of work, he lives a quiet, routine life — playing online games and using dating apps — having spent most of his twenties tied to the store. The store is his entire world. And yet, beyond its doors, the world itself seems to be coming to an end. Review Shõta Sometani as Sakai, a clerk at the convenience store owned by his gruff, stick-to-corporate-rules father, gives a fine performance. His character is all but dead on the inside at work, and not much motivated socially or otherwise outside of his job, although he attempts romantic connections, awkward though they may be. Sometani nails this everyman character as writer/director Yusuke Iwasaki uses the konbini and his protagonist as a representation of the frustrations of twentysomething life in modern Japan. The kills are sudden and often shocking, the gore is impressive, and the

Mahershala Ali Gets Violent in the New 'Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother' Trailer

Mahershala Ali Gets Violent in the New ‘Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother’ Trailer

Who needs the Marvel Cinematic Universe anyway? While Disney continues to leave him spinning his wheels in development hell for the long-delayed Blade reboot, two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali has decided to take matters—and a giant, razor-sharp edge—into his own hands. Amazon MGM Studios has just unleashed the first official teaser trailer for Your Mother, Your Mother, Your Mother, a relentless new action thriller slated for a wide theatrical release this October. Written and directed by Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli), the film casts Ali as a devoutly religious hitman. He is forced to slash his way across Houston. He’s on a mission to protect his children following the death of his wife. Think profound existential crisis, heavy family drama, and an absolute metric ton of carnage. Slicing Through the Red Tape The teaser trailer keeps its narrative cards close to its chest. However, it does prove that Ali is fully locked into his career-action-hero era. After years of prestige dramas

Soldier Boy's Story is Just Beginning in the "Vought Rising" Trailer

Soldier Boy’s Story is Just Beginning in the “Vought Rising” Trailer

As one chapter of Amazon’s flagrant anti-superhero propaganda closes, another begins. Right on the heels of “The Boys“ series finale, Prime Video has dropped the first teaser trailer for its highly anticipated prequel series, “Vought Rising.” Because if there is one thing Vought International knows how to do, it’s franchise a brand until the wheels fall off. The teaser opens with a dangerously naive Ben (Jensen Ackles), long before he became the jaded, cigar-chomping Soldier Boy, declaring: “I want to fight for the flag. I want to be… a hero.” Oh, honey. If only you knew the corporate paperwork, trauma, and compound-V cocktails that were actually required. If only you knew the corporate paperwork, trauma, and compound-V cocktails that were actually required. The Pitch: Mad Men Meets Murder Mystery Set decades before Billy Butcher started slaughtering Supes, “Vought Rising” trades modern tech for a 1950s aesthetic. Series mastermind Eric Kripke describes the prequel as a “twisted murder mystery about the

Chucky Gets Axed!

Chucky Gets Axed!

Sad news in the world of horror today. After 3 full seasons, the TV series CHUCKY has officially been canceled by Syfy/USA, as reported by Variety. The show enjoyed a solid run, bringing back series stalwarts such as the legendary Brad Dourif as the voice of Chucky, Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany (and herself), and Alex Vincent as Andy Barclay all grown up. We also got some great additions like Zachary Arthur as Jake, Alyvia Alyn Lind as Lexy, Bjorgvin Arnarson as Devon, and even Devon Sawa as POTUS. The incredible Fiona Dourif portraying a young version of Charles Lee Ray was the highlight of the show for me. The way she mirrored her father’s performance from the original “Child’s Play” was nothing short of spectacular. Unfortunately, none of this was enough to save the show from the inevitable chopping block. If I’m being frank, though, after the less than stellar, awfully messy and convoluted season 3, I’m really not all
