A New 'Anaconda' Movie Is Slithering Your Way

A New ‘Anaconda’ Movie Is Slithering Your Way

After slithering into theaters with three sequels and a bizarre crossover with the Lake Placid franchise, the 1997 cult classic Anaconda is preparing to shed its skin for a brand-new movie. Rumors about the future of the giant snake saga have been around for years. But the latest update from Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic podcast brings some exciting news. According to Sneider, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent writer-director Tom Gormican is attached to pen and potentially helm the franchise’s next installment. “An actor is not attached, and nothing is official and anything could change,” Sneider cautions. “Anaconda is going to be a meta-movie. And from what I understand… it’ll be something close to this… this isn’t the actual logline… it’s going to involve an actor or actors playing loose fictional versions of themselves who go off to make an Anaconda movie. All hell breaks loose.” Sneider adds that “[Gormican’s] writing it, I don’t think that directing deal

'Happy Death Day' Director Sinks His Teeth into the Adaptation Of 'Big Bad'

‘Happy Death Day’ Director Sinks His Teeth into the Adaptation Of ‘Big Bad’

Horror maestro Christopher Landon (son of legendary actor Michael Landon), fresh off his departure from the upcoming Scream sequel, which seems to be a sinking ship, has already sunk his teeth into a new cinematic beast. According to Deadline, he’s set to direct Big Bad for Lionsgate. The film is a werewolf tale based on a chilling story by Chandler Baker, who is adapting her work for the big screen. In Big Bad, we’re drawn into the tumultuous world of the Strauss family. Sam, a father burdened by domestic discontent, grapples with resentment. Rachel, his restless counterpart, yearns for something more. As night descends and shadows lengthen, the Strauss family faces a primal battle for survival—a struggle against the monstrous predators at their doorstep but also against the demons within themselves. Baker’s story, featured in the anthology “Creature Feature,” captivated readers with its ability to “tingle the spine and twist the mind.” With Landon at the helm, Big Bad promises

Movie Review: The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra - Indiepix DVD

Movie Review: The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra – Indiepix DVD

When you sit down to The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra, the debut feature from South Korean Director Park Sye-young, you may think you are settling in to a take on George Barry’s 1977 killer bed flick, Death Bed: The Bed That Eats. Since both features contain killer beds… or more specifically in this film’s case a killer mattress… but the two experiences couldn’t be more different. While Death Bed is a more conventional horror movie, The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra is a melancholy, though completely bizarre, treatise on loneliness and emotion. Following the life cycle of a creature born of fungus that inhabits a mattress owned originally by a couple in a rather crummy relationship, the narrative moves from owner to owner (usually after it feeds on someone), allowing us to experience their sad existences. All of that packs quite an emotional punch that in a conventional drama would be almost overbearing in it’s depressive aesthetic, but since this is ostensibly a

HorrorFuel.com’s Staff Picks Their “Top 10 Horror Movie of 2023”

This year, we’ve seen a lot of great movies released, those filled with psychological and physical scares. The staff of HorrorFuel.com have weighed in and picked their “Top 10 Horror Movies Of 2023,” revealing the best of the best. Kelli Marchman McNeely HorrorFuel.com Owner/Editor Many great horror films have been released this year, so it was a serious task to narrow it down to ten. But I did, and here’s what I came up with. 10. The Last Voyage of the Demeter The Last Voyage of the Demeter received mixed reviews, but I really enjoyed it. It’s got an exciting story and is a fresh take on the Dacula tale. Directed by André Øvredal, the film tells the terrifying story of the merchant ship Demeter, which was chartered to carry private cargo—fifty unmarked wooden crates—from Carpathia to London, with the crew unaware of the horrors they contain. You can watch it now on Apple TV, Prime Video, and DirectTV, or

Spoiler-Free Reviews: EVIL SUBLET and BAKEMONO (Another Hole in the Head Film Festival)

Spoiler-Free Reviews: EVIL SUBLET and BAKEMONO (Another Hole in the Head Film Festival)

eVil Sublet (U.S., 2023) Like most things in life, if rent sounds too good to be true, there must be some sort of problem. In writer/director/cinematographer/editor/producer Allan Piper’s horror comedy eVil Sublet — eVil referring to New York City’s East Village — couple Alex (Jennifer Leigh Houston, Piper’s wife and also a producer on the film) and Ben (Charley Tucker) find that out first-hand when they rent a fully-furnished apartment for incredibly low rent that turns out to be not only haunted, but the site of multiple past murders. The film aims more for satire and silliness than scares, though plenty of creepiness is certainly on hand. eVil Sublet sends up the housing crisis, pharmaceutical companies, political and sexual politics, and more as Alex and Ben try to cope with their spooky situation with the help of a large cast of supporting characters, including Sally Struthers as a woman living in a storage facility, Stephen Mosher and Pat Dwyer as

Movie Review: Crocodile Island (2020) – WellGo USA DVD

The Dragon’s Triangle is like an Asia-based Bermuda Triangle, but instead of the normal magnetic interference bringing down aircraft over the area (though that plays a part too), ol’ D.S. is lousy with pterodactyls which have a tendency to smash into planes en masse and causing them to crash on a remote island populated by the biggest fuckin’ crocodile in forever… like since prehistoric times “forever”! Enter: Lin Hao (Gallen Lo) and his daughter Yi (Liao Yinyue), who along with a handful of others have recently survived a passenger plane crash in the aforementioned location. Now as the few that remain try to survive both in-fighting and the harsh locale they’ll have to deal with not only crocodiles of varying size, as well as giant spiders that stalk the mist-covered forests of the island! Will Lin be able to keep his skin intact while also looking out for his daughter and the other passengers, or will they become just more

Movie Review: Beast From Haunted Cave (1959) – Film Masters Blu-ray

Beast From Haunted Cave begins the only way it could; with skiing, day-drinking, and an opening credit shout-out to South Dakota as we are introduced to smarmy criminal Alexander Ward (Frank Wolff) and his gang, who’s ranks include his boozy-floozy gal pal Gypsy Boulet (played to rum-soaked horny… yet tragic and sympathetic perfection by Sheila Carol), who plan on robbing a nearby bank vault containing some gold bars. In order to get that goal accomplished, our villains pose as cross-country skiers and hatch a plan to set off an explosion in a nearby gold mine to create a diversion for their heist. Of course this being a creature feature, the setting of said explosive unleashes a pissed off long-legged spider thing which pursues them to their hiding spot… namely the remote cabin of ski guide Gil (prolific anime voice over artist Michael Forest) who becomes both an unwitting pawn in the evildoer’s plan, and horny for Gypsy… a lot of
