Movie Review: Ghoulies II (1987) – MVD 4K/Blu-ray combo

A broke-down, carnival haulin’ big rig, a sack full of monsters, and evil cultists… Besides sounding like a typical Tuesday ’round these putrid parts, these three things kick-off 1987’s Ghoulies II, the sequel in creatures only to 1984’s, Charles Band (Puppetmaster) produced, mini-monsters run-amok pic Ghoulies (bet you didn’t see that one coming) that finds our eponymous creatures livin’ that sweet carny life! When an escapee from an evil cult deposits a sack of pilfered Ghoulies at a rural gas station, our hero Larry (Damon Martin) and his booze-soaked uncle/ex-magician Ned (legendary character actor Royal Dano) inadvertently pick up the horrific hitchhikers seeking repair for their eighteen-wheeler. So, monsters secretly in tow, Larry and Ned return to the carnival… which is facing economic hard times… so much so that the new owner (thanks to his family founding the carnival) wants to make wide-spread changes in order to rake in more cold, hard cash… including eliminating Larry and Ned’s dark ride,

Movie Review: The Abomination (1986) - Visual Vengeance Blu-ray

Movie Review: The Abomination (1986) – Visual Vengeance Blu-ray

Why does The Abomination begin with a sizzle reel of the best bits of what’s about to come in the following 90 minutes? Fucked if I know presently, but it does… but they try and claim it’s a nightmare our hero Cody (Scott Davis) is experiencing… Following that we dive into the story proper… hahaha, just kidding… this time it’s another non sequitur (a lil’ stalk n’ slay number here featuring some of the footage we just experienced) as Cody details his grizzly actions to his doctor while quoting the bible and claiming to be controlled by a monster he dubs “The Abomination”. Okay, now we start the story, as we learn Cody’s ailing, televangelist-addicted mother, Sarah (Jude Johnson) is suffering from a nasty lil’ tumor… which she barfs up. Well, that “tumor” goes right ahead and crawls inside of our hero… which makes his workday and non-stop country-fried fuckin’ around come to a full, and phlegmy, stop. So after

'Cocaine Bear' Sinks Its Teeth Into Prime Video

‘Cocaine Bear’ Sinks Its Teeth Into Prime Video

One of the wildest movies released this year is Cocaine Bear (review). If you haven’t had the chance to see it yet, we have great news; it’s finally coming to Prime Video after premiering on Peacock and AppleTV this past April. Directed by Elizabeth Banks (“The Boys”), the movie finds an oddball group of cops, criminals, tourists, and teens converging in a Georgia forest where a 500-pound predator has ingested a staggering amount of cocaine and gone on a coke-fueled rampage for more blow … and blood. The craziest part? The movie was inspired by a true story. Keri Russell, Ray Liotta, Alden Ehrenreich, O’Shea Jackson, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson star in this fun flick written by Jimmy Warden (The Babysitter: Killer Queen). The movie was such a hit that it has gone on to inspire a myriad of drug-fueled creature features such as Cocaine Cougar, Cocaine Shark, and Meth Gator. Cocaine Bear sinks its teeth into Prime Video on

Some Sherpas actually manage to kill a giant yeti, and the corpse is promptly shipped overseas to be studied by renowned anthropologist Dr. Claire Collier (Juliet Mills) who discovers something strange… this yeti was purposefully mutated into existence, but by who… or what… is unknown. So off these cats trek, all fired up to retrieve a living specimen… which they find, along with an entrance to a hollow earth paradise/living hell chock-full of ape-like cavemen, lizard people, U.F.O.’s, and aliens. Killer Sloth Horror-Comedy ‘Slotherhouse’ Slashing Its Way Into Theaters

There is no shortage of creatures, and we’ve seen just about everything. However, a new horror movie is headed your way, Slotherhouse featuring a critter you’ve never seen in a horror movie before, a killer sloth. Directed by Matthew Goodhue, this horror-comedy tells the story of college senior Emily Young, who aims to be voted president of her sorority. “When she adopts an adorable sloth, she realizes the animal can serve as the house’s new mascot and help her win votes, dubbing the animal Alpha. The new pet is a beloved addition to the sorority house until a series of deaths point toward the sloth as the prime murder suspect. The film becomes a survival story of sisters versus sloth as the girls wonder if they can make it out of Sigma Lambda Theta alive (sloths, of course, are not known for being fleet of foot).” Lisa Ambalavanar, Sydney Craven, Olivia Rouyre, Bianca Beckles-Rose, Andrew Horton, Sutter Nolan, Grace Patterson,
