New ‘Salem’s Lot’ Adaptation Hit With A Major Delay

Stephen King fans were excited back in April to learn that Gary Dauberman‘s new adaptation of the vampire tale Salem’s Lot is on its way. The film was set to premiere in theaters this September, but that’s no longer the case. The movie has sadly been hit with a major delay and will now premiere in April of 2023, according to Deadline. It’s been a year since the news broke that the adaptation was in the works with horror heavy hitter James Wan serving as producer for the movie from Warnes Bros. and New Line, which was written and directed by another horror legend, Gary Dauberman (IT, Annabelle Comes Home, The Nun). Roy Lee and Mark Wolper will also produce, with Dauberman serving as executive producer. Following Festival Hit ‘Arisaka,’ Mikhail Red Begins Production On ‘Deleter’

Philippines director Mikhail Red‘s upcoming film Deleter, part techno horror, part psychological thriller, begins production this August and should wrap this September, Variety reports. “The story involves an online content moderator who deletes a suicide video made by her co-worker. But the otherwise desensitized woman cannot escape from either her own troubled past or from a mysterious vengeful presence.” Written by Red and his brother Nikolas, the film stars actress-influencer Nadin Lustre, McCoy Deleon, and Louis Delos Reves. “[The Philippines] is now known as the content moderation capital of the world,“ Red told Variety. “Moderators work in clandestine or shadowy operations and are often exposed to the filth of society, watching countless videos and images with disturbing and graphic content, which can lead to lasting trauma, as well as psychological and emotional distress all for a low wage.” Variety quotes the director as saying. “Most of them do not have proper access to proper work benefits, mental health support, and

Movie Reviews: Short Films “Night Breakers,” “Unicorn,” and “Bumblebees” (Tribeca Film Festival)

Night Breakers Here’s a creature fraught with suspense not only from potential monster attacks but also from the apprehension and paranoid feelings between characters. A group of people — leader Joel (Andrew Tarbet), Mei (Chacha Huang), Sunna (Anna Gonzalvo), Trevor (Pol Fernandez), Martin (Marc Padró), and Jacob (Sergi Subirà) — are traversing a dark path through maze-like caves to reach a city. Each member is wearing strings of bright lights powered by ever-weakening batteries. These lights fend off vicious beasts but as soon as someone’s lights go out, they become monster chow. As batteries become more scarce, tensions rise and the humans become as dangerous as the creatures pursuing them. Cowriters/codirectors Gabriel Campoy and Guillem Lafoz have crafted a terrific, tension-filled short that cries out to be turned into a feature, and their cast members all give top-notch performances. Unicorn Bisexual man Charles (Charles Gould) has arranged a first-time meeting with couple Bella (Brianna Baker) and Larry (Patrick Woodall) to
