WARNING SPOILERS

Last night’s episode of The Walking Dead was filled with both moments that made me want to scream and moments that left me scratching my head.  At the beginning of the episode we see Carol mending her jacket. Then we see Carol sneak off after a tryst. Followed by Daryl leaving on his motorcycle. At first I thought, oh, he’s going after Carol, but soon we realize that he’s on a mission of his own, to take down Dwight. As soon as Rick and the group realized that she was gone half of the group left to go find Carol and Daryl and bring them back to Alexandria.  Carol got stopped by a small group of Saviors and of course, she makes a quick work of them before disappearing. And it’s the dumbest thing I’ve seen on the show in a long time. Come on, we’re supposed to believe that a group of people, expecting a battle, are going to just leave a few fighters, kids and a couple of average people ? Please, these people know the deal. It’s obvious that AMC was simply setting it up for Carol, Glenn, Rosita, Michonne and Daryl to get captured, and they did. But it was just lazy, like the rushed, over-the-top breakdown Carol is supposed to be suffering from. I haven’t seen this kind of laziness from The Walking Dead in a long time.

Let’s get down to the last three minutes of the episode, which is really all that mattered. Maggie is sick and in pain, from what I’m guessing is a miscarriage, and that’s horrible. In the final seconds of the episode we see Daryl and Dwight in the woods, we hear a shot, see Daryl lean against a tree and his blood splatter all over the camera. Okay, that worries me, but it appears to be a shoulder wound. Carl has been shot twice, so if anyone could make it Daryl can. We also hear Dwight say, “You’ll be fine.” But, Dwight isn’t exactly someone who you can trust.

If Daryl dies like this it will be a shame and I hope the writers, directors, hell, everyone, realizes that.  He deserves to go out in style, not from this low-life piece of trash, who probably still has Eugene’s teeth marks on his dick. If Daryl does die, fans will be furious.

So, should you be worried about Daryl? Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl says yes, we should. We should be used to worrying about characters by now. Every finale it’s the same thing, the group is in big trouble and someone is going to die.

Next week is the season finale, and yes, you should be worried about everyone. Negan is coming and someone is going to die. Here’s a spoiler for you: you won’t find out who dies for seven months. That’s right, we’re going to have to freak out for months before we find out which of our favorite characters is killed by Negan’s bat Lucille. And that leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. The people over at The Walking Dead really know how to stick it in and break it off.
