Since its initial announcement, New Line’s IT remake has had trouble getting off the ground. Earlier this year we received word that Will Poulter would no longer be playing the evil clown Pennywise. For months fans have been recommending actors they think would fit the part. Rumors have been swirling the past few weeks that an actor had signed on for the part. News comes today via ComingSoon.com that an actor has indeed been chosen.
Swedish actor Bill Skarsgard (brother of Alexander Skarsgard) is putting on the red nose and starring as Pennywise, originally played by Tim Curry. Skarsguard is most well known for his role on Eli Roth’s series Hemlock Grove and in The Divergent Series: Allegiant.
The cast who will play the young protagonists includes Jaeden Lieberher (Midnight Special), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger things), Jack Dylan Grazer (Tales of Halloween), Wyatt Oleff (Guardians of the Galaxy), Chosen Jacbs (Hawaii Five-O) , and Jeremy Ray Taylor (42).
Andy Muschietti (Mama) will be in the director’s chair for the two-part film. The first centers on a group of teens, referred to as “The Losers Club”, go head-to-head with the entity that takes the shape of a demented clown. The second will involve “The Losers Club” who have come back to town as adults.
Roy Lee, Seth Grahame-Smith, and Dan Lin will serve as producers for IT, which does not have a premiere date yet.
