Bend Studios’ 2019 zombie game Days Gone is heading to the big screen for a film adaptation with “Outlander” star Sam Heughan currently in talks to star as Deacon St. John, according to Deadline. Oscar-nominee Sheldon Turner (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, Up in the Air) is penning the script for Sony PlayStation. Set in the Pacific Northwest after a global pandemic, “The game chronicles former motorcycle club member, Deacon St. John, as he fights to survive against the forces of despair and mutated, predatory humans in his quest to find the long lost, presumed dead, love of his life.” Deadline also states that, “Turner’s script will be a love ballad to motorcycle movies; the bike being Deacon’s sole form of transportation, his horse in this would-be, modern-day western.” The movie was pitched as “The Walking Dead” meets “Sons of Anarchy.’ Vendetta Productions is producing along with Sony PlayStation Productions. Scream franchise star Neve Campbell, won’t be back for Scream 6, has found her next role. Campbell is set to star in David E. Kelly‘s upcoming series “Avalon.” The Series is set “in the city of Avalon on Catalina Island, where L.A. Sheriff’s Department Detective Nicole “Nic” Searcy (Campbell) heads up a small office. Catalina has a local population that serves more than 1 million tourists a year, and each day when the ferries arrive, hundreds of potential new stories enter the island. Detective Searcy is pulled into a career-defining mystery that will challenge everything she knows about herself and the island.” Deadline states that “Campbell’s Nic is the lone detective assigned to the LA County Sheriff’s substation on Catalina Island. Somewhat inscrutable, Nic isn’t easily intimidated and holds firm to her morals. Ironically, her strong moral compass is what got her banished to Catalina’s biggest city, Avalon. It’s a gig no career-driven LA cop wants, but Nic soon discovers

Stephen King adaptations just keep coming (not that we are complaining). We’ve reported that several adaptations will be released over the upcoming year, including Finn, Salem’s Lot, and The Boogeyman. Today, news has come via Deadline that another King story, The Regulators, is being turned into a film. In the story, written under King’s pen name Richard Bachman,” Along a residential street in the suburban town of Wentworth, Ohio, a paperboy is suddenly shot by a mysterious stranger in a red van. The neighborhood’s panicked civilians run for shelter while author Johnny Marinville attempts to contact the police. However, an otherworldly force prevents the call from going through.” The film is coming from the Bohemia Group. As soon as we know more we’ll let you know. THQ held its digital showcase for 2022 and announced fourteen new games that are in the works, the most exciting of all is the reimagining of the survival horror that started it all and inspired other legendary survival horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill but sadly had the most painfully awful movie adaptation in cinematic history, so yes horror gaming fans, I’m talking about Alone in the Dark! Being develuped by Pieces Interactive, Alone in the Dark is an original story that’s a love letter to the original three desktop DOS games from the early 90s. The game is a psychological survival horror with a twist of southern gothic charm where players can play as either Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood as they explore and investigate Derceto Manor where Lovecraftian horrors await. Alone in the Dark is currently in development and when it’s released it will be for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S

Christian Bale, star of the iconic horror film American Psycho will lead the cast as Augustus Landor in Netflix’s adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Pale Blue Eye, with Antler‘s Scott Cooper in the director’s chair. Word is, the film is also roughly based on the novel by Louis Bayard. The movie is described as, “An ingenious tale of murder and revenge at West Point, featuring a retired detective and a young cadet named Edgar Allan Poe—from the author of Courting Mr. Lincoln. At West Point Academy in 1830, the calm of an October evening is shattered by the discovery of a young cadet’s body swinging from a rope.“ The film will see Poe as a central character who is played by Harry Melling. Gillian Anderson, Robert Duvall, Lucy Boynton, Charlie Tahan, Timothy Spall, and Toby Jones co-star. The release date has yet to be announced, but we’ll keep you posted.

This September a mystery will unfold in Netflix‘s new thrilling series, “Devil in Ohio,” based on the true story of a young woman trying to escape a cult. ‘ Based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Daria Polatin, who serves as showrunner, the limited series centers on Mae (Madeleine Arthur). Mae is brought home by psychiatrist Suzanne Mathis (Emily Deschanel) who has three daughters. Quickly a series of incidents leave the family in chaos, and Suzanne’s daughter, Jules (Xaria Dotson), suspects that there’s more to the mysterious girl’s past. With Prey causing a storm with fans and critics alike, many film sites are publishing lists of “Predator” movies along the line of which is the best or worst of the film series. A common thing with these lists is the inclusion of the two AVP (Aliens Versus Predator) movies which has caused people to argue in the comment sections of those articles whether or not the films are or are not canon to both the “Alien” and “Predator” franchises. I already knew the answer to this like many other fans of the two film series. The short answer to the question of whether is AVP canon or not is a resounding, NO. Aliens Versus Predator is set in its own universe. Helen (Virginia Madsen) and her friend Bernadette (Kasi Lemmons) are just a couple o’ ladies on their way to complete a thesis at the college they attend… a thesis revolving around the local urban legend of a supernatural menace known as the Candyman (the legendary Tony Todd) who has been rumored to stalk the absolute living nightmare of the tenements of Chicago’s Cabrini-Green if anyone is foolish enough to utter his name five times before a mirror. And why wouldn’t they strut right on into the horribly depressed an violent projects? I mean besides the dangerous fellows out front, there’s the matter of the very real titular grotesquery; a son of a slave that was murdered for falling in love with a white woman who has come back from the dead with a real hatred for… well, everyone. Showtime’s series adaptation of Let the Right One In is picking up momentum. Based on the iconic 2004 novel by Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist, Away‘s Andrew Hinderaker is bringing the epic vampire tale to TV. EW has just shared the first images from the series via Instagram. Set in New York City, the series stars Demián Bichir, Anika Noni Rose, Grace Gummer, Madison Taylor Baez, Kevin Carroll, Ian Foreman, Jacob Buster, and Nick Stahl. Stahl stars as Matthew in Let the Right One In, as “a former soldier and fiercely loyal fixer for the Logan family, whose clean-cut, mild-mannered exterior belies a savagery beneath.” The [original] film is about a relationship between an isolated bullied boy and an isolated lonely girl, who we learn is a vampire. What I found so compelling about that film is there’s a much smaller relationship between the vampire and [her] adult caretaker. I really used the film as inspiration for a story that
