CD Projekt Red earlier this month hinted that a game was in the works codenamed “Canis Majoris”. Today CDPR revealed that this secretive project is in fact The Witcher Remake. The remake of the widely popular 2007 RPG that has spawned two sequels, multiple spin-off games, and a TV series is said to be remade from the “ground up” using engine 5 technology with game developer Fool Theory heading it up. Veteran developers who worked on The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be working on the remake as well, hopefully easing the anxiety fans might feel hearing about the remake. Movie Review: Frost (2022)
Grant (Vernon Wells of Commando and The Road Warrior fame) and Abby (Devanny Pinn, Death Count) are a father/daughter combo that have grown apart over the years, but the impending birth of Abby’s child have spurned a re-connection between the two. After some of that good ol’ reminiscing, the pair head out for a fishing trip near Grant’s remote cabin, deep in the woods. One car crash en route to said trip makes everyone’s plans go completely tits up as Abby becomes trapped in the car, and as the weather gets worse and worse Grant has no choice but to leave Abby and head out for help. All of that aside, there’s also a surly wolf stalking about, because being pregnant and alone in the freezing cold didn’t suck hard enough for our heroine… Director Brandon Slagle (working from a script from writer Robert Thompson and a story by James Cullen Bressack) have presented a razor-sharp tale of desperation and

Movie Reviews: FLOWING and THE WEIRD KIDZ (Brooklyn Horror Film Festival)
Flowing Italian/Belgian coproduction Flowing (Piove, 2022)finds the city of Rome infected by steam that rises from the city’s manholes and through open drains in homes. The steam causes people to hallucinate and face their most negative emotions and darkest thoughts, driving them to violence. At the center of the story is the fractured family of father Thomas (Fabrizio Rongione) and his children, troubled teenage son Enrico (Francesco Gheghi), and young wheelchair-bound daughter Barbara (Aurora Menenti). Thomas blames Enrico for the automobile accident that claimed his wife’s life and crippled Barbara, and the father and son show open contempt for each other, so once that steam infects the pair, bad things are bound to happen. Director Paolo Strippoli invests his film, which won the Special Jury Mention Award at Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, with a strong sense of dread throughout, and no small amount of goo and gunk to permeate the visuals. The family trauma and drama is presented in a

Underrated Horror: ‘Skeleton Key’ Unlocks The Horrors Of Hoodoo
There are a lot of underrated horror films that have been released over the years. One that is criminally underrated is 2005’s Skeleton Key from director Ians Softly, and the writer of The Ring. And it happens to be one of my favorites. The movie is set in a once grand plantation that stands against the beautiful backdrop of the bayou of Louisiana where it has stood for over a century. Caroline works as a hospice nurse and is there caring for Ben, the man of the house (John Hurt) in his final days. His wife (Gena Rowlands), a domineering woman, believes Caroline’s presence is not needed but is convinced by her young lawyer (Peter Sarsgaard) to accept the help. But there’s much more to the story, there is a nefarious plot in the works. Skeleton Key is unlike any film you’ve seen before. It’s also full of intrigue, spookiness, and tension. Hoodoo plays a huge part in the story,
