North Bend Film Festival Offers Chills and Thrills This Week

North Bend Film Festival Offers Chills and Thrills This Week

North Bend, Washington, is the home of North Bend Film Festival, which features intriguing, offbeat cinematic offerings this year from August 4–7. Naturally, Horror Fuel readers are most drawn toward the more dark and diabolical films, and the fest comes through with some bold selections. Among the horror, thriller, and horror-adjacent features scheduled are director Clay Tatum’s terrific supernatural comedy The Civil Dead, of which I wrote in my review for the film’s Sundance run, “The Civil Dead packs some emotional wallops along with its unconventional humor, making for one of the most unusual cinematic offerings of the year so far.” Also on tap is LGBTQ chiller Swallowed, which I reviewed during its Overlook Film Festival screenings: “[Director Carter] Smith serves up body horror scenes not for the squeamish and plenty of suspense to keep viewers glued to the screen.” Writer/director Mali Elfman makes her feature directorial debut with Next Exit, which according to North Bend Film Festival’s official description,

Movie Review: Disaster Movie 'Shattered Earth' Isn't A Disaster

Movie Review: Disaster Movie ‘Shattered Earth’ Isn’t A Disaster

Hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, fans of disaster thrillers just can’t get enough of the action and the destruction. The truth is, we just don’t get enough high-quality movies with good stories. But once in a while, we actually get one worth watching. My interest peaked a couple of weeks ago when I reported on the Chinese-made disaster movie Shattered Earth. I In the film, a peaceful town turns into a living hell when a devastating earthquake is triggered, causing buildings to tumble and sinkholes to open. A retired railway soldier and his son, an explosives engineer, travel deep into a cave to rescue trapped survivors. However, a second terrifying quake is just hours away, threatening to bury the whole town in a massive landslide. We’ve got films that include every natural disaster, but we’ve never gotten a film of this magnitude about an earthquake that caused a landslide, which is the major threat. It’s nice to see something new. The film

8 Best College Campus Horror Movies You’ve Never Heard Of

There are many types of settings loved by horror film lovers, and the college campus setting is one of those. In too many movies, young college students wander into a cannibal-ridden forest, haunted houses, abandoned asylums, and so on. There are usually issues with parties going wrong and dangerous figures hiding behind the shadows. If you’re a lover of college campus horror, these are some movies you should look to watch. 1. Kristy Justine stays on campus alone due to her financial struggles when everything traveled for thanksgiving.
