Julia Roberts Stars In The Psychological Thriller Series “Homecoming” Premiering This Fall On Prime

This fall Amazon Prime‘s original mind-bending psychological thriller “Homecoming” starring Julia Roberts is set to premiere following its world debut at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival where director Sam Esmail and stars Julia Roberts, Stephan James, Sissy Spacek, Dermot Mulroney, and Creators/Showrunners Eli Horowitz, and Micah Bloomberg were in attendance. From director Sam Esmail, the creator of “Mr. Robot”, comes the series about Heidi Bergman (Roberts), a caseworker at the Homecoming Transitional Support Center, a Geist Group facility helping soldiers transition back to civilian life. Movie Review: Mara (2018)

After a man is strangled in his sleep, and twisted into a knot like one of those massive-ass mall pretzels, the police immediately blame the dude’s wife, no matter who vehemently their daughter blames someone called ‘Mara’. Enter criminal psychologist Kate Fuller (Olga Kurylenko) who investigates the claims of the accused and before you can say “Frederick Krueger” she discovers that ol’ Mara is a demon that murders people in their sleep. As our heroine presses on she discovers the deceased attended a support group for sufferers of sleep paralysis, and when she takes it upon herself to attend a meeting she finds that the participants all seem to be haunted by Mara (who marks her prey with one hell of a case of pink eye) who is offing them one by one while they get their snooze on. Movie Review Inhumanity (2018)

Jessa Dixon (Darcel Danielle) is one lucky dame; just as she is about to be offed by serial psycho Six Pack Sam (played by Leviticus Wolfe, who’s beard I am still trying to figure out was real or not…these are the deep thoughts I ponder late at night in the crypt boils n’ ghouls) mysterious government agents storm the scene and take the murderer away for some shadowy reason (it is mentioned that his blood is special and can be used to test a new drug, but a lot of the particulars remain murky). Anyway, Jessa recovers from her ordeal and discovers her lawman pappy committed suicide while she was in the hospital. She buys that roughly zero percent, so she teams up with wise ass detective Sergio (Ford Austin) to solve what she perceives as her father’s murder. ‘Freaks’ Teaser Arrives Ahead Of TIFF (2018)

Writer-directors Adam Stein (Mech-X4) and Zach Lipovsky (Dead Rising: Watchtower) make their debut with Freaks which will soon make its world premiere at The Toronto International Film Festival. ‘State Of Mind’ Review: A Stunningly Beautiful Sci-Fi Thriller

Daedalic Entertainment gave me access to their newly released sci-fi thriller, “State of Mind” that is out now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The game takes place in Berlin where the year is 2045 and Earth’s health is declining. Technology is changing people’s lives for better and worse resulting in the rise of a terrorist group known as Breakpoint who are against the latest in technological advancements, especially with humanity’s reliance on drone, and robotic tech. The story of “State of Mind” is seen through the eyes of people from two dramatically different ends of the social spectrum, those who live in Berlin and those who live in the utopian city known as City 5. The first thing that stood out for me is the visual style of the game, for being low-poly, it’s beautiful! Daedalic Entertainment’s sci-fi thriller “State Of Mind” launches today! The game takes place in the not so distant future (2048) where humanity is destroying itself more than ever. Climate change, social/political unrest, disease, and war are tearing the world apart but technology seems to be the only salvation to help humanity to escape. By escape, people voluntarily go to “City 5” a virtual world that’s a paradise where they can live peacefully while a humanoid robot takes that person’s place in the real world. Jeffrey Wright Is On The Hunt In New Image From ‘Hold The Dark’

Green Room director Jeremy Saulnier‘s latest film, Hold the Dark, is set to arrive on Netflix the September after making its world premiere at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival. The latest image features “Westworld” actor Jeffrey Wright, who plays Russell Core, a wolf expert who arrives at an Alaskan village, after the deaths of three children suspected to be by wolves. He is hired by the parents of a missing six-year-old boy (Beckham Crawford) to track down and locate their son in the Alaskan wilderness. True Blood actor Alexander Skarsgård also stars in Hold the Dark. Riley Keough, and James Badge Dale co-star. Movie Review: Rondo (2018)

Rondo begins with Paul (Luke Sorge), a PTSD suffering ex-combat vet and alcoholic, getting chastised by his sister cum caretaker Jill (Brenna Otts) who ends up sending him to a therapist (Gena Shaw) who unbelievably recommends that he keeps drinking, and prescribes him a rather unorthodox treatment; namely attending a very bizarre sex party with very specific rules…and an end result for each participant that isn’t quite what one would expect. Paul naturallt decides to exit stage left from the whole affair which results in a different kind of orgy…one of violence that at the film’s half way point changes the paradigm of the story completely…and not in a way you would ever guess! As you can surmise, Rondo is a film packed with twists and surprises, and while that results in an edge-of-you-seat, unpredictable thrill ride for the viewer it makes my job excruciatingly difficult because I can’t discuss the reasons why this film is so amazing without giving

Elijah Wood’s SpectreVision Teams Up With Ubisoft Montreal For New Video Game

Elijah Wood, one of three partners of the film company SpectreVision known for its horror/thriller related films, has teamed up with gaming giant Ubisoft Montreal to bring a new first-person thriller game to fans this fall. Ubisoft Montreal (a branch of Ubisoft) has released some major titles over the years most notably the “Assassin’s Creed” series, the “Far Cry” series, and “Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege”. The two companies are working on a new psychological thriller video game called “Transference”. Players are unwilling participants in an experiment by Dr. Raymond Hayes who took brain data from himself, his wife, and their son and programmed it into a corrupt digital simulation. Movie Review: Beyond the Grave (Porto dos Mortos – 2010)

In a post apocalyptic landscape a lone black clad lawman (Rafael Tombini) wanders in search of vengeance against an outre adversary; a demonically possessed serial killer (inspired in no small way by Stephen King’s great creation Randall Flagg). Along his journey our hero takes up with two teenage castaways who tag along on his dark mission, fights monsters and magic, and attempts to retain some semblance of his humanity as he stares further into the abyss of both his quest and the world he inhabits. Highly reminiscent of the D.Y.I., punk rock aesthetic of early ’90’s genre film trailblazers such as Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino, Beyond the Grave presents a story that takes well established tropes and puts a slight spin on them, along with a kinetic energy that ends up being a bit like Mad Max meets Phantasm…a world of grim policemen in muscle cars fighting zombies and magic in dilapidated industrial districts and sprawling bucolic landscapes.
