Blu-ray: Post Mortem (2020)

Blu-ray: Post Mortem (2020)

With Spanish Flu outbreak of 1918 raging, and the first World War winding down, our dude Tomás (Viktor Klem), a post-mortem photographer by trade, has plenty of stiffs to keep business booming as he laboriously poses those corpses and snaps shots for their relatives to have as keepsakes of their loved ones. Why is Tommy so balls deep in the corpse biz (not literally, though in this column would it really come as a surprise if he was?)? Because he nearly was one himself as he was technically dead, but an ethereal young girl revives his ass on the battlefield where he is rescued from a gaggle of extinct soldiers. After becoming something of a sideshow exhibit due to his experiences while touring with a travelling carnival (nothing good ever comes of those fucking things) he eventually comes in contact with a 10 year-old girl named Anna (Fruzsina Hais), who asks our hero to come and photograph the many corpses

Life Is Hell For A Teen Possessed In ‘My Best Friend’s Exorcism’ (Trailer)

Author Grady Hendrix is well a well-known horror author, delivering novels such as The Final Girl Support Group and Horrorstör. The trailer for the movie adaptation of his 80s set book My Best Friend’s Exorcism is here ahead of its premiere this September. “Surviving the teenage years isn’t easy, especially when you’re possessed by a demon. It’s 1988, and best friends Abby (Elsie Fisher) and Gretchen (Amiah Miller) are navigating boys, pop culture, and a paranormal force clinging to Gretchen like a pair of neon legwarmers. With assistance from overly confident mall exorcist Christian Lemon (Christopher Lowell), Abby is determined to compel the demon back to the pits of hell—if it doesn’t kill Gretchen first.” Directed by Damon Thoman and written by Jenna Lamia, My Best Friend’s Exorcism, which combines horror with a hint of comedy, lands on Prime Video on September 30, 2022.

The brilliant filmmaking duo of Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who brought us Resolution, Spring, V/H/S: Viral, The Endless, and Synchronic, are back with Something in the Dirt. The first teaser trailer has just debuted along with the poster (via EW). In Something in the Dirt, “Two new neighbors witness what seems to be a supernatural event in one of their apartments. At first terrified, they realize that documenting this phenomenon could provide them the lives they’ve always dreamed of.” “It’s a sort of love letter to Los Angeles,” the duo said. “And the movie is a mystery, so we don’t want to give away too much. But… generally the movie’s about these two new neighbors – one of them just moved into an apartment… something that might be paranormal or otherworldly happens. Movie Review: Answer The Call And Watch The Must See Horror 'The Black Phone'

Movie Review: Answer The Call And Watch The Must See Horror ‘The Black Phone’

Like many of you, I’ve been eagerly awaiting to see director Scott Derrickson’s new installment in terror, The Black Phone, which is now out On Demand, VOD, and streaming on Peacock. The Black Phone centers on “Finney Shaw, a shy but clever, bullied, 13-year-old boy abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney. Young actor Mason Thames, who stars as Finney, gives performs far beyond his years. He’s incredible at emoting his character’s fear, sadness, and desperation as he faces “The Grabber” and the reality of his situation. He starts as a meek, somewhat pathetic character who evolves into a man of the action thanks to the guidance of the spirits
