It’s October and that means it’s time to get into the spirit of the season, and obviously nothing gets you into the Halloween mood better than horror. Unfortunately when it comes to most live-action horror films, there’s only so much that can be done and shown, but thankfully of all things, Anime can cross the line with story, gore, and intriguing storytelling. So for every day this month, I’ll be featuring a unique Anime that fits the horror genre that you can most likely find on any streaming service. Brace yourselves for more blood-sucking with Shiki.
Shiki (2010) follows the story of a strange occurrence in a village with a mansion on top of a hill overlooking the community below. A strange family moves into the mansion and strange deaths start to happen, as the death count grows, the local doctor begins to realize that the problem in the village is not a plague, but vampires.
The 22 episode series was based on a series of light novels of the same name that were heavily inspired by Stephen King’s book Salem’s Lot which the author of Shiki dedicated his book to King’s.
