Exclusive Clip From the Upcoming 4K release of The Return of Swamp Thing!

Movie Review: The Return of Swamp Thing (1989)

Something bizarre is going down in the bayou; there seems to be strange creatures stalking the swamps…and by strange I mean even weirder than our moss encrusted walking vegetable of a leading man; namely Swamp Thing his own damn self (once again played with heart and conviction by the late great Dick Durock)! Naturally the monsters are the result of the machinations of Swampy’s old nemesis, the mad doctor Anton Arcane (Louis Jourdan…reprising his role from the first film even thought he turned into a hedgehog beast and was destroyed at the end of the previous picture…1982’s Wes Craven helmed opus Swamp Thing), who is none to pleased our evergreen hero is still walking around handing out ass beatings to whatever mutant he comes across. Adding to the dynamics is the arrival of Anton’s beautiful step-daughter Abigail (Heather Locklear); a new age type that is really into plants (and by the end of the picture you can guarantee she wants

Movie Review: Bermuda Island (2023)

Movie Review: Bermuda Island (2023)

After a lil’ shooty-shooty; a team of FBI agents capture arms dealin’ dastardly devil Diego (Noel Gugliemi) and proceed to load him on a civilian-packed plane headed down Puerto Rico-way… regardless of the threat of a major incoming storm and the chagrin of Air Marshall Jonas (Natural Born Killers’ Tom Sizemore). Naturally the plane experiences a patch of turbulence that sends the craft hurtling towards the ocean… more specifically the preternatural dead zone known as the Bermuda Triangle! Our heroes soon make it to an island where everything is puppies and rainbows… or cannibal monsters and a long-lived survivor to be more accurate… but will these folks ever stop bitchin’ long enough to face the threats at hand?!! Coming from Mahal Empire Productions; I expected Bermuda Island to be an action-packed, monster-filled, gore-splashed, rollickin’ romp… and it sure as shit was… so, I win! End of review. Okay, okay… here’s some more of my wicked words (by unpopular demand!)… Director

Movie Review: Moonchild (1994)

Movie Review: Moonchild (1994)

In a dystopian future, armored masked guards chase a man named Jacob Stryker (Auggi Alvarez) all over hell and back in an industrial area. Why are they so pissed at our man Stryker? Well he escaped from an experimental prison center where hewas involved in something called Project: Moonchild… but before we learn just what that means for our hero he falls in with a group of heavily armed juvenile soldiers, their pit fightin’ pal Talon (Dave Miller), and their bad-ass leader Athena (Kathleen McSweeney) who decide to join him in finding his missing son and defeat the Solidarity who control the city. Meanwhile it is learned that our hero is a bio-engineered werewolf created to fight wars, and before long a group of bounty hunters (including a ninja, a cyborg, a mature lady named Medusa, and eventually a comely blonde lady) is set loose to bring him back to those that made him, resulting in explosive battles among the

Movie Review: Night of the Tommyknockers (2022)

Movie Review: Night of the Tommyknockers (2022)

Meanwhile in the rootin, tootin ol’ West… A group of miners blast open a new section of the mine they work and unleash murderous, gold lustin’, zombie-like monsters known as Tommyknockers… which cuts their work day short, that’s for damn sure… Adjacent to that horror biz, The Dirt Gang, lead by a dude named Dirk (Richard Grieco), are haulin’ ass towards their next bank heist after fucking up the last one six ways to Sunday in a rather messy (read: fatal) fashion. They soon arrive at the eerily deserted town of Deer Creek; a town that should be busy as a basket of beastly bees thanks to it’s location next to a prosperous gold mine… but as you can guess, that sinister shaft is Ground Zero for those terrible Tommyknockers! Will the Gang survive to ride another day or will they end up Monster Chow… or brought to justice by bounty hunters… or die by revenge for their past deeds…

Movie Review: Dracula vs. Frankenstein (1971)

Movie Review: Dracula vs. Frankenstein (1971)

After the most Ray Dennis Steckler opening credits sequence that Ray Dennis Steckler never directed, Al Adamson’s Dracula vs. Frankenstein gets underway… and boy fuckin’ does it ever a graverobbing Dracula (Zandor Vorkov… much more impressive a moniker than Roger, the record store employee), an axe murder committed by a mute Igor-surrogate named Groton (Lon Chaney Jr. who is argurably most well-known from starring in 1941’s The Wolf Man for Universal, some groovy “kids”, B-Roll of the Vegas strip, and a mad scientist, a descendant of Dr. Frankenstein himself (played in his last role by J. Carrol Naish, no stranger to the monster biz having co-starred in 1944’s House of Frankenstein) performing “experiments” on comely, nude women. How does all of that fit together? Just wait, the movie isn’t done jamming shit together… Added to the monstrous mix, we also get a showgirl, Judith Fontaine (Regina Carrol of 1969’s Satan’s Sadists, another Adamson production) by name, looking for her missing

Gods, Monsters And Men: 'Exceptional Beings' Premieres This January

Gods, Monsters And Men: ‘Exceptional Beings’ Premieres This January

This January, Freestyle Media will unleash the psychological action fantasy thriller Exceptional Beings co-directed by prolific Nigerian novelist Njedeh Anthony (“Creatures of Necessity,” “Mind Crawlers”) and acclaimed South African Christian Kazadi (“24 Hours Blind,” Blinkers”). Exceptional Beings, which serves as the prequel to the novel Godhood, explores the existential crisis of two supernatural beings as they question their Godhood when they encounter a woman with an uncanny essence that doesn’t conform with their 4,000 years of knowledge. They journey through her existence relating to their desperate need to understand answers to questions they never believed existed. The film features an extraordinary cast that embodies the Gods from several pantheons. The cast is led by Ciarra Carter (‘Ooga Booga,” “The Colony”), Dane Oliver (“The Resonator,” “Cupid’s Match”), Rachel Thundat (“9-1-1: Lone Star,” “Secrets Exposed”), Bunmi Famuyiwa (“Ida B. Wells: A Red Record,” “The Wake”), Clark Moore (“Yellowstone,” “Dahmer-Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”), Chad Sano (“Grease Live!,” “My Crazy Ex”), introducing Jean

Horror Fuel’s Top 10 Film Festival Premieres of 2022

Horror Fuel’s Top 10 Film Festival Premieres of 2022

Outstanding horror and horror-adjacent movies were in strong supply at film festivals this year, and whittling down my “best of 2022” list was no easy feat. Here are the selections on which I decided. Some are now available through digital, on-demand, subscription services, and physical media, while others are still making the rounds on the fest circuit. (1) Evil Eye (A Night of Horror) Awash in the atmosphere, visually beautiful, and boasting terrific performances and superb set design, Mexican chiller Evil Eye — from one of my favorite directors, Isaac Ezban — is a dark fairy tale/folk horror outing that is woven together masterfully in its telling of a teen girl’s suspicions that her grandmother may be a witch. (2) Skinamarink (Fantasia) This goosebumps-inducing, lo-fi slice of fear-fare cinema became an instant year-end best candidate when I saw it for its Fantasia run in the summer. It induces the feeling of fright we had as children, which is no small

Co-Directors Manuel Camilion and Benjamin Edelman Talk 'Santastein'

Co-Directors Manuel Camilion and Benjamin Edelman Talk ‘Santastein’

This time of year, nothing is better than holiday-themed horror films. When the press release for the upcoming movie Santastein came across my desk, I wanted to know more, so I reached out to its co-directors, to learn more about the film, which has an exciting concept that combines Santa with Frankenstein. In the film, inspired by a short film, “Max Causey was only six years old when he accidentally burned Santa to a crisp on Christmas Eve. 12 years later, Max attempts to raise Santa from the dead in order to fix his past mistakes and restore the Christmas spirit. But he soon realizes that the creature he has created is a bloodthirsty killer – and it’s headed straight for his friend’s Christmas party!” https://soundcloud.com/kelli-r-marchman-mcneely/interview-with-directors-manuel-camilion-and-benjamin-edelman?si=5ee19e5c64e1430f87cdd6ce7f28d46b&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing Kelli: “Now, all right, so tell me about Santastein, or Santastein, actually.” Manuel: “It’s a common misnomer. People mix it up a lot. Ben, you want to start, or should I?” Ben: “Go ahead,
